Taxonomy Starter Kit

Organisations looking to implement SharePoint need to ensure that their content is stored and accessible in a structured and consistent manner. The Oyster IMS Taxonomy Starter Kit is a fixed-price set of professional services that ensure you always retain control of your content within SharePoint through the use of a classification scheme or “content map” tailored to your business needs. This will ensure that the right content is available to the right internal and external audiences at the right time.

The Taxonomy Starter Kit follows a five stage process:

Taxonomy Starter Kit Chart Flow: Discovery -> Analysis and Design -> Technical Implementation -> Client Review -> Re-work and Finalise

 

Discovery: Determining scope; analysis of functions and activities supported by the content; review of existing information repositories to find out how they are currently structured and used; assessment of any existing taxonomies, file plans, retention schedules or metadata standards.

Analysis and Design: Taking the results of the Discovery Phase and designing an appropriate taxonomy or “subject map” for the relevant department or function.

Technical Implementation: Implementing the designed taxonomy within your SharePoint environment (this does not include mapping and migrating existing content).

Client Review: Iterative, workshop-based session to drive out final taxonomy structure and related metadata model.

Re-work and Finalise: Final implementation of agreed model and client sign-off.
